Muncher: Breakfast
at Café Olé
So
finally we get to do Café Olé. Munchkin and I dropped
in to the café early so we could get to work on time. Gigi
Dallaire and her trusty staff are an absolutely friendly and congenial
group ready to do practically anything to ensure your visit is wonderful.
Glancing up to the menu board we see a great mix available from
the standard Capital City (2 eggs, toast, grilled potatoes and a
slice of melon at $3.75) to the omelet specials that, if you like
omelets, you must try. All priced at $5.50, they range from the
three cheese, to Italian (roasted peppers, mozzarella, parmesan
and parsley) to Florentine (spinach, feta and grilled tomato) to
the famous Olé (Black Forest Ham, cheddar, Olé potatoes
and onions).
Breakfast
meats are grilled to order and are generous in their portions. With
bacon, sausage, turkey ham, turkey sausage and a Trenton staple,
Trenton pork roll, the combinations are endless. If you do not see
something that strikes your fancy, ask Gigi or Leon Rainbow and
they will have their cook, Norma, whip it right up.
For
those on the go, there is also a selection of breakfasts including
egg and cheese, at only $2.50, Bacon or sausage with egg and cheese
for one dollar more, or a grilled cheese and tomato for $3.25. There
are also a variety of bagels, sweets and scones to satisfy even
the pickiest of morning habits. I ordered the three cheeses with
bacon and grilled tomatoes and Munchkin ordered plain omelet with
well-done
bacon.
That was the easy part-picking out reakfast
now for the really
best part of any great morning meal
the coffee. How do you
want it? Leon was indisposed, so Gigi stepped in with confidence
and speed that impressed but did not surprise me. The other reason
we came early is that I have seen the line that forms when it's
coffee time in Trenton. It's out the door sometimes.
I ordered
a triple shot of espresso with half foam and half milk and a little
sweetener
not much, though I really enjoy their coffee. Munchkin,
needing to do a little less caffeine, ordered the decaf coffee Grande
and I dare you to tell the difference.
We
sat in the back and Gigi brought our coffees. The café is
filled with great art at reasonable prices from the gallery across
from the hotel, Rhinehart-Fischer Gallery. There are plenty of tables
and if you work in town I am sure you will see someone you know
before too long. If you want to be alone you can sit in one of the
easy chairs in the front and enjoy your coffee with a view of the
new hotel.
Ah!
Breakfast arrived and a well-grilled omelet with a little brown
on the outside, moist with lots of cheese inside, was delivered.
Delicious! Lots of bacon and four slices of tomato grilled very
well. Munchkin was very pleased with the crispy bacon and the well-done
omelet and was not heard from until the meal was completed. With
the great breakfast and the great coffee you sometimes find yourself
not knowing which to eat next, coffee, breakfast, back and forth

They
also do very nice breakfast and lunch catering and the coffee is
even available in new nifty take out gallon containers. Gigi is
able to host a small business meeting with ease. What a great idea.
With this great selection of breakfast and lunch, the great coffee
and thoroughly enjoyable surroundings, I wonder how crowded it will
be when the hotel is up and running? Oh no! I forgot to mention
all the selections for lunch
hmmm. I smell a return visit
